Cult Nails Polishes!!!! and a Tragic Nail Disaster

Hai hai!!
I just received some nail polishes that I ordered from Cult Nails and I am super excited ;)

they came in these cute burrito bundles :)

my new pretty pretties
Cult Nails Get It On, Wicked Fast, Seduction, Scandalous, Devious Nature

3 coats Devious Nature

Devious Nature is a gorgeous bright magenta/pink/berry creme. It is just super awesome. 2 coats work great. I will be wearing this a ton over the summer as a mani and also as a pedi. I love how cheerful and bright it is ;)
Devious Nature and Scandalous

Ok, so awesome right?! And then come the sad part....
***time machine to 4 days ago****
*All is good, my nails are nice and long, perfect for swatching and nail art
THEN...AHG a huge rip appears, really deep (I couldn't just trim all my nails) on my ring nail
I start to panic....I put on 3 million coats of different nail base coats hoping that it will last until the nail grows long enough to cut. That only works for a little bit. Then, I cut the sticky part of a bandaid and shape it to my nail, hoping that will work...It doesn't.
I am skipping a bunch, but finally The Rip gets longer and I break down and rip it off.
***present***
So sorry guys, but for the next few weeks my swatches will be on my right hand.

just in case you don't believe me, here are some shots I took of Scandalous on my left hand
I kept them in small size (please DONT enlarge these)

Also, I will totally reswatch this when my nails grow out ;)
*cringe*

**more cringing**

Flower Nail art
Anyway, I love all of my polishes from Cult Nails. In fact, I want to but ALL the polishes from there.(HEHE)

Happy Sunday!

Happy (Belated) Earth Day! Awareness on nail polish toxins and some ramblings...

Earth Day was Sunday and I thought I should do a short post on earth/nail polish awareness.
I want to share with you a few articles regarding toxins in nail polish. ( I wrote none of these)
These mostly talk about the chemicals in nail polish and how they are bad for you.
I'm sure most of you have already heard of these before, but just in case.

http://www.google.com/hostednews/ap/article/ALeqM5jRZBQO85MfMWx_VuvQoqHaEcJbNA?docId=a332eda51a5f4a99933f922a5541be95

This next article has more information about which polishes are DBP, Toluene, and Formaldehyde free as well as polishes that are even better for yourself and the environment!

http://www.inspirationail.com/3-free-varnish/

I think it would be really great if all of the big companies (OPI, China Glaze, Essie, Revlon, etc.) provided good examples to follow by changing their formulas even more to be more environment and people friendly. I also hope everyone will support all the companies that are pushing to be more environmentally friendly!!! I started by discarding my bottle of Seche Vite (containing Toluene :O) for a safer Cult Nails base coat and top coat ;)

Another (slightly wacky) idea of mine is some way to recycle old nail polish bottles. I always feel guilty on the rare occasion when I throw away a nail polish bottle (usually with some nail polish left in it). I always wonder where it goes....So wouldn't it be great if we could send back used bottles to the company and they would recycle them into new bottles?! Or just clean the bottle and reuse it?!!! I think that would be totally awesome!!

Anyway, I hope you read these articles and think about them (besides, this is also just an excuse to buy more polish!! that doesn't contain harmful chemicals). More polish coming soon!!!

Thanks for reading,

Amazeball holographic!

Hai there!! Today we have a totally amazing linear holo.....China Glaze GR8 (from the not available anymore OMG collection) I won this polish off of an amazing giveaway.

Like most holo's this looks about 100x better in real life. But basically its a yellow based linear holographic. In direct sunlight, there are magical rainbows on my fingers!
3 coats, no top coat.

(O.O)

Totally amazing, right?!!! Unfortunately, the brush was kinda weak. ALso, when you try to put a topcoat on it, it dullens the holo. It chips right away with out.
This is definitely a polish you would wear in the summer time, or on a day with guaranteed sun. Because with out the sun, this just looks really dull ;(

Thoughts?

Funky Frenchy Foil

Hi loves ;)
Today we have a fun springy mani!! I did 2 coats of Zoya Trixie on pointer, middle, and pinky. And 3 costs of Essie Turquoise and Caicos on ring and thumb with Trixie for the french.

Direct Sun
You can see half of my pup in the background!!

In the shade, the silver looks slightly matted.
Sparkly wrapped tips!

Direct Sun

I'm gonna call this.....normal dim lighting
Trixie is really cool in the shade, it looks like it has some dirt specks in it, with a cool effect.

Zoya Trixie is a lovely silver sparkly foil. Opaque in 2 coats and semi fast dry time.

I love this mani!!!! Super cheerful and awesome! Thoughts?

Layered Mermaid

Hi loves! Today we have a mermaid-istic combo.

First up 4 coats of Revlon Royal, no top coat.

Revlon Royal is a navy jelly. It dries to this cool plastic finish while still looking super squishy ;) Formula was a bit thin and I had to be super careful with my strokes. In the shade this look way darker and more like the last picture.

With 2 coats Spoiled Pet my Peacock   (Peacocks!! YAY)

look at all that beauty in the bottle!!
soooooo many possibilities :)
Spoiled Pet My Peacock a clear based with green, gold, silver, blue, and purple medium sized hexagons.
It had a weird formula where I had to dab the glitters on. I think this would look nice over a light blue...

:D I think that if I experimented a bit more I could get a Deborah Lippman Across the Universe effect.
hummmnnnn...

Suggestions?
