Sponge Gradient!

Happy Saturday!!! (I love the weekend ;)
Here we have a sponge gradient mani done with OPI Gargantuan Green Grape and Wet n Wild Sunny Side Up. I tried my hand at following The Nailasaurus 's sponging tutorial (found here).  I was inspired by the beautiful color combo she did here. It was harder than I expected and ended up sponging SSU over GGG instead of doing exactly what the tutorial said.

Im sure this combo would look great matted too.

Definetly verrryyyy subtle. Just for fun, here is what all of the other pictures looked like...

spring sunday!

I believe it is still officially winter, but it sure feels like spring...We finally had some rain! (Yay plants)
Anyway, I'm switching my mind set to spring feel-good colors. During all the seasons, I try to have a manicure that cheers me up/inspires me/ makes me feel happy! Spring is just more so. Onto the polish!

This is actually another guest appearance from my right hand. I think she will be making more appearances on my blog. ;) I am wearing one coat of OPI Alpine Snow and 2 coats of my franken, Mazarine* Salt (yay a franken with a name) top with a coat of SV. I think this would also look cool over black but the white brightened it up.

 *Vocab word of the day!
Mazarine : a deep, rich blue*  Im deciding to pronounce it Maz-ar-I'-ne

Its a little chipped up, but you get the picture.

Mazarine Salt is a sheer blue based pearly polish with scattered blue sparkle particles (the salt).
I recommend clicking on the pictures to ENLARGE them! You can see the sparkles better. One coat would have left the sparkles sitting more individually, to a cool effect.

Also, I will try put up a new poll on the sidebar biweekly. I encourage you to take part!

Happy Sunday!

quick NOTD: OPI Bling Dynasty

Happy Tuesday!!!!
quick NOTD

here we have 3 coats of OPI Bling Dynasty (part of the OPI Hong Kong collection Spring 2011)
It was almost almost almost opaque in 2 but I had accidentally smudged it (oops) so I did three

unfortunately today was a very overcast/rainy day and I wasn't able to do good close ups
(you can see a rain droplet in the second picture)

A very pretty gold, no doubt
I will have to swatch this again once the sun comes out

mint chocolate chip!!

hey lovelies!

this polish today reminds me of mint chocolate chip ice cream every time i wear it!!!
maybe sometime i'll do a base of this and sprinkle brown sparkles on it

here we have OPI Gargantuan Green Grape
i looked up gargantuan and it means enormous

this was a 3+ coater with a slightly streaky formula :( . Not what i would expect from OPI.
A good time to wear this nice color is in the summer or any time when the sun is shining. Otherwise the green isn't as bright or cheerful.

As you can see, I randomly placed a silver hexagon sparkle on all the nails...Unfortunatly the one on my ring finger fell off :(
I think it adds an extra sparkle

excuse the chipping, this was taken 1 day after i swatched it

my bestie lucy decided to do a guest post here!!!
she currently doesn't have a blog but I'm hopping she'l make one soon
enjoy!**

HI GUYS  IM SO EXCITED!!!!!!!  it is really awesome to be on katy's super blog.YAYAY.
Here we have an OPI, big hair big nails. It has a kind of jelly finish and it is part of the Texas collection.

Then, I added white flowers that complement the color, making it a very tropical effect. I used katy's wonderful supply of dotting tools and her nail art pens for the center of the flowers.

Hope you Like!!!!!!

** wonderful job Lucy!!! I think we all agree that she is supremely talented ;)
hopefully we can do more guest posts in the future!

sweet manicure

today i decided to do a candy/sweet inspired manicure
since my camera wasn't working i had to use the camera on my computer
i used ( in order from thumb to pinky)

a sheer orly pink ( I'm not sure what this is called, the name rubbed off)
orly Lemonade
OPI Gargantuan Green Grape
Revlon Minted
orly Lollipop
heres 2 pics of the final mani

this is my imitation of the "sweet" collection at orly
lemonade and lollipop are actually part of it
the third pic is a better representation of the OPI polish
the color reminds me of mint chip ice cream!!
overall application was good
i think this is about 3 maybe 4 coats on each
yellow was a bit streaky and pink pretty sheer
